Dalton Trumbo was born on December 5, 1905, in Montrose, Colorado.  When he was seven years old, his family relocated to Grand Junction, Colorado.

James Dalton Trumbo was an Academy Award-winning screenwriter and novelist from the United States who famously refused to testify before the House Committee on  Un-American Activities.

Dalton is widely regarded as the most accomplished and popular of the infamous 'Hollywood Ten,' who were blacklisted by Hollywood between 1947 and the late 1950s for supposed communist links.

He was able to work clandestinely even after being blacklisted due to his tremendous popularity. He worked on several successful films as a scriptwriter.

Dalton Trumbo was born on December 9, 1905, in Montrose, Colorado, to Orus Bonham Trumbo and Maud Trumbo. Grand Junction High School was his alma mater.

Dalton Trumbo's hard work began to pay off in the early 1930s, and he was able to get several of his pieces published in various periodicals.

'Eclipse,' one of his first published works, depicted the social realities of the Great Depression. It was a contentious issue in his hometown.

Christopher Trumbo, a filmmaker and screenwriter by profession, Melissa Trumbo, a photographer, and Nikola Trumbo, a psychologist,  were born to Dalton Trumbo and Cleo Fincher in 1938.

In Los Angeles, he died of heart failure on September 10, 1976.  His body was given to science for research purposes.
